What is a Title 1 school in Indiana?

Title I, Part A (Title I) of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, as amended (ESEA) provides financial assistance to local educational agencies (LEAs) and schools with high numbers or high percentages of children from low-income families to help ensure that all children meet challenging state academic standards.

Title I Teachers

Amanda Hopkins 

Family: Fiance: Dalton Williams, Kids- Adam, Colton, Bryer, Michael, Lena, and Tucker 

Other Information: I grew up in Mitchell, Indiana. As a child, I attended Hatfield elementary and completed middle school at Burris Elementary. I graduated from Mitchell High School in 2012 and afterwards attended Hanover College where I would graduate in 2016 with my Elementary Education Degree. I love to teach reading! In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, being outdoors, and listening to music.

Favorite Book: My favorite children’s book is The Day The Crayons Quit.

Katie Kumpf

Family: Husband-Tyler, Kids- Andrew and Allie.

Other Information: I received my Elementary degree from Indiana State University and Masters in Administration from Oakland City University.  I am a Reading Intervention Teacher. I love teaching kids to read. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, attending my kids’ sporting events, traveling, and being outside.   

Favorite Book: I love many books but if I had to pick my favorite children’s book it would be The Berenstain Bears Series.  

Mary Magner

Family: Husband- Aaron, Kids- Noah and Corinne 

Other Information: As a child, I attended Throop Elementary! I graduated from Franklin College in 1998 with a BA in Elementary Education. I then earned a Masters in Education and then pursued a second Masters degree in School Counseling, both from Indiana University. I love education! I have had the joy of being a Title Teacher, First Grade Teacher, School Counselor, and now I am a Reading Intervention Teacher!!

Favorite Book: My favorite book is The Giving Tree because of the wonderful message it teaches. 

Nia Manship 

Family: Husband-Nate, Daughter-Ava, Son-Max 

Other Information: I grew up in English, Indiana and graduated from Crawford County High School in 2003. I graduated from Indiana University Southeast in 2008, and got a Reading Intervention teaching position at Throop. I got my Masters Degree in Elementary Education at Oakland City University.  In my free time, I enjoy being with my family, reading, and traveling.

Favorite Book: My favorite book is A Bad Case of Stripes by David Shannon. It is about a girl who discovers that she needs to be herself even if everyone else is not exactly like her, and she doesn't need to worry about what other people think.

Josie Spaid

Family: Kids -Autumn, Prisscilla, Olivia, Kaitlynne, Olivia, Juliana, Brahn, River, Phoenix; Dogs - Bailey, Daisy; Cat - Lucky

Other Information: My family moved to Paoli when I was seven years old, and I quickly fell in love with Throop Elementary. By second grade, I knew I wanted to be a teacher at Throop. My senior year of high school, I interned in a classroom at Throop each day. I graduated from Paoli Jr. Sr. High School in 2005.  I attended University of Evansville and graduated in 2009 with my BS in Education. During college, and for three years after graduation, I was a substitute teacher at Throop. Since 2012, I have been a third grade teacher (2 years) and a Reading/Title teacher. In my free time, I enjoy making memories with my family.

Favorite Book: My favorite book is I Wish You More. It is one of the first books I gave to my first child. We have spent many nights reading and re-reading this book. The message is sweet and heartfelt, one that I want to share with all of my children.  This book holds great meaning for my family.

Lana Goldsby

Family: Daughter: Laundon 

Other Information: I grew up in Orleans, IN. As a child I attended Orleans Elementary and graduated from Orleans high school. I have an associate degree from Oakland City University. I enjoy spending time with family and loved ones. 

Favorite Book: My favorite book is the Bible.

Daria Hall

Family: Husband - Cody, Daughter - Lily, Son - Barrett

Other Information: I grew up in Bedford, In. After high school, I attended Indiana University in Bloomington where I earned my B.S. in Environmental Science. I spent several years working as an Environmental Technician at Lehigh Cement. I chose to stay at home when both my kids were very young. When my youngest started kindergarten, I started working at Throop in the Title I department. In addition to my love of reading, I am also an animal lover. We have several dogs, cats, chickens, ducks, and a rabbit! 

Favorite Book: Sneetches by Dr. Suess is one of my favorite children’s stories.

Cindy Murphy 

Family: Husband-Lance, Sons-Bryce, Tristan & Cody, Daughter-in-laws-Amy & Hannah

Other Information: I grew up in Bacon, In. As a child I attended Throop Elementary and graduated from Paoli Jr. Sr. high school. I am currently attending Indiana Wesleyan University in pursuit of my Early Childhood education degree. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family and friends.

Try that again and think what would sound right. Do you know a word like that? Do you know a word that starts with those letters? Do you know a word that ends with those letters?
